“Now choose life, so that you and your children may live.”
God calls us to choose what leads to life and blessing.
Deuteronomy 30:19
Beloved, hear this today: God Himself is the ultimate example of making choices. From the very beginning, He chose to create the universe, bringing order out of chaos, setting the stars in their places, and shaping life according to His perfect will.
But His choices didn’t stop at creation. God decided which families and nations would fulfill His purposes, assigned gifts and talents to every person, and orchestrated key events in history. Every choice He made was deliberate, intentional, and filled with wisdom.
And here is a truth we must embrace: the life we are living today has been shaped by the choices we made yesterday. Every word, every action, every decision has influenced where we are now. Some of you are experiencing peace, growth, and progress because of wise decisions you made in the past. Others may feel you are still waiting for breakthrough—but hear this: it is not too late. God’s grace and guidance are available to help you make better choices starting today, and every step you take now can begin to shape a brighter, stronger future.
If God—the Creator of all things—models intentional decision-making in creation, people, gifts, and divine appointments, then making wise, deliberate choices is part of what it means to be human.
Choices Are Part of Life
Every day, we are faced with decisions that shape our destiny:
- Who we spend time with
- What we watch or read
- What we eat
- Where we go
- How we invest our energy
And then there are life-defining choices:
- Choosing a life partner
- Choosing a country or place to live
- Choosing a business or career
- Choosing a faith or religion
Every choice—big or small—is a prophetic seed. Plant it wisely, and it will bear fruit for your destiny; plant it recklessly, and it can obstruct the plan God has ordained for your life.
Choices Shape Destiny: Blessings or Consequences
Choices That Hindered Destiny:
- Esau chose pleasure over promise (Genesis 27:34-40)
- David chose lust over integrity (2 Samuel 11)
- Judas chose money over loyalty (Matthew 26:15)
- Pilate chose approval over truth (Matthew 27:15-26)
Choices That Brought Blessing:
- Joseph chose integrity (Genesis 39)
- Daniel chose faithfulness (Daniel 1:8)
- Ruth chose loyalty (Ruth 1:16-17)
- Abraham chose obedience (Genesis 12:1-4)
- Solomon chose wisdom (1 Kings 3:5-14)
- Esther chose courage (Esther 4:14-16)
- Mary chose obedience (Luke 1:38)
Life is full of decisions. Every day, every moment, we choose—and our choices carry spiritual weight. Wrong choices start within us, driven by unchecked desires, pride, fear, or selfish interests—and they always carry consequences. Wise, God-centered decisions lead to life, favor, and destiny.
The Daily Responsibility of Choice
Life is a constant series of selections. Every day we decide:
- Who influences us
- Where we go
- What we feed our soul
- Which voices we listen to
- What to protect and what to allow
Every decision is a prophetic seed. Plant it with wisdom, and it produces blessing. Plant it recklessly, and it produces regret. Your present life is shaped by yesterday’s choices, but your future is shaped by the choices you make today.
How to Make Wise Choices:
- Seek God’s Guidance – Proverbs 3:5-6
- Resist temptation and delay gratification
- Guard your heart and mind – Philippians 4:8
- Seek godly counsel – Proverbs 15:22
Practical Spiritual Applications:
- Relationships: Walk with those who lift your spirit
- Media & Entertainment: Feed your mind with truth
- Speech: Speak life
- Finances: Be a wise steward
- Integrity: Practice honesty daily
Every choice is either a deposit into your destiny or a withdrawal from it.
Prophetic Declaration
Declare boldly:
- I am chosen by God
- I am set apart for a divine purpose
- My choices today build my destiny tomorrow
- I will choose obedience over compromise
- I will choose integrity over convenience
- I will choose God’s will over my own desires
- I will not be distracted by fear, pride, money, or lust
- I will walk in the fullness of God’s calling
My future is built by my choices, and I will choose wisely every day.
Closing Exhortation
Beloved, yesterday shaped today—but today is yours to shape tomorrow. Every decision, every word, and every step you take now can align your life with God’s plan.
You are chosen. You are set apart. You are called for a purpose. Your future is not random—it is spiritual, intentional, and powerful. Your choices determine your destiny.
Choose wisely. Choose God. Choose life. Walk in faith and let your decisions plant seeds for a fruitful future.
Amen and Amen.
